Description: Premiered in Venice in 1644, Ormindo is the tale of two pairs of lovers who experience the reversals of fortune, adventures in disguise and other plot devices which, a century later, would become quite stereotypical. The brilliance of the vocal writing is entrusted almost entirely to the two female roles and the voices rule entirely, the accompaniment restricted to strings and continuo. 2 CDs.
