Description: Cramer's 84 Studies were published in two books in 1804 and 1810, anticipating Clementi's Gradus ad Parnassum (the latter was a bit miffed about being second) as a universal aid to preparing piano students with material of progressive difficulty. Beethoven inflicted them on his nephew and Clara Schumann's father on her. Hans van Bülow edited and published a subsequent edition and so did Busoni who also chose 8 of the final 16 (which Cramer popped out in 1835 to make an even 100, like Clementi's) and adapted them for issue in his own Klavierübung. 2 CDs.
