Description: The Messiaen is a three-movement, 25-minute reconstruction of an unfinished piano concerto the composer intended for the Debussy centenary in 1962 but which he put aside after his trip that year to Japan in favor of writing Sept Haïkaï as his Debussy homage. Based on birdsong collected in Hérault in 1958, Muraro finds it “among (Messiaen’s) most audacious works of the period”. Roger Muraro (piano).
