Description: For a guy known as a pianist-composer, Moszkowski wrote some very attractive violin-and-piano pieces. Only 24 of this disc’s 78 minutes are taken up by transcriptions. The suite is striking for its violin writing which now makes the work sound like a piano quartet and again like a piano trio while the Op. 16 and 82 pieces are each dedicated to a particular violinist, whose strengths we can learn from the way Moszkowski wrote for them. Nazrin Rashidova (violin), Daniel Grimwood (piano).
