Description: Many of Eben's instrumental works attest to his abiding interest in Gregorian chant and the Catholic sacred music tradition; his choral works share the same inspiration but with original chorale melodies becoming rhythmically complex and polytonal, with metrically irregular designs having something to do with aleatory and serial procedures. Be that as it may, to the untrained ear, these pieces come up as like cold, fresh water, sharply defined and exhilaratingly performed. Latin, German-English texts.
