Description: This overview of virtuosic and sometimes just plain weird Italian violin music was issued by a defunct Spanish label 20 years ago; it's unlikely RI's previous owners offered it. So here is one of today's "elder statesmen" of the baroque violin in his salad days. Note the unusual presence of a harp in one of Guerrieri's pieces, the work for solo cello by Gabrieli, and two of Uccellini's Arias come with three voices and percussion! Glossa's well-documented and attractive presentation comes with 12 pages of English notes. 2 CDs. Ensemble Aurora, Enrico Gatti (violin). Original 1991 and 1992 Symphonia releases.
