Description: Mulet was another of the strange French breed of retiring, mysterious organists. Tournemire called him "a strange and great artist, captive of a mystic ideal... An artist worthy of the great epoch of the Masters of the Middle Ages". His main work is the hour-long Esquisses Byzantines of uncertain date but probably pre-World War I, which was inspired by the interior of the Sacre Cœur cathedral which towered over his boyhood home. 2 CDs. Paul Derrett (organ of Notre Dame de France, Leicester Place, London). Original 1988 release.
