VINCENT D'INDY (1851-1931): Sonata in E, Op. 63, Poeme des Montagnes, Op. 150.
Catalogue Number: 12K055
Description: Offered on vol. 1 of an ongoing D'Indy series on the German label Genuin in our August 2007 catalogue, the Poëme is a three-movement tone-poem which tells a love story in a mountain location, with both Berlioz and Liszt strong influences on the young (1881) composer. Otherwise unavailable on disc, the 1907 sonata is a three-movement work of some 41 minutes, cyclic in form, reminiscent of Dukas' sonata in its strong feel for form and coherence yet also plainly the mature composer's homage to Franck. Diane Andersen (piano). Original 1987 René Gailly release.
