Description: The sonorities of different instruments, and the range of sounds that they can be persuaded to produce, are the elements of paramount importance here. Even the work for solo electric organ, an instrument that does not lend itself readily to extended playing techniques, is an extended meditation on the potential of the instrument's loudspeaker to produce non-harmonic resultant tones from combinations of notes 'beating' together, or from the resonances in the speakers themselves. The ensemble pieces function similarly, though with a wider sonic palette, material organised in blocks according to its intrinsic sonic properties, producing a huge range of intriguingly complex textures.
