Description: World premiere recordings of three suites of ballet music for piano (1938, 1943 and 1948). Some of this music will be familiar to collectors of this complete Skalkottas cycle on BIS since the first four pieces of The Land and the Sea were orchestrated as 4 Images and the last two beame part of the long folk ballet The Sea. Needless to say, these are all from the composer's folk-oriented, tonal style (whether using original folk motifs or creating his own, à la Bartók). Limited quantities available (more after Jan. 1).
