Description: A student work from 1876, the concerto was left unfinished after the criticism Taneyev sustained from various sources. Shebalin orchestrated the second movement in 1953, leaving us with this First Recording of a 33-minute unfinished concerto whose monothematic style and lack of virtuosity for its own sake look forward to the composer's mature style. The remaining 44 minutes include several more first recordings of solo pieces of great interest to Russian repertoire collectors.
