Description: German-born, Strube was the founding conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and taught at the Peabody Conservatory while also performing for 23 years in the Boston Symphony - hence his association with Foote. His 1925 sonata and Foote’s viola version of his cello sonata (c.1912) are the main works in a program of conservative Germanic Romanticism. Lauren Hodges (viola), Jasmin Arakawa (piano).
