EDISON DENISOV (1929-1996): Symphony, Flute Concerto, Peinture.

Description: We offer this for its documentary value: a recording of a concert on Feb. 6, 1990 when glasnost and perestroika were the national buzzwords and the collapse of the Soviet Union just around the corner. The symphony’s only other recording was by Barenboim on Erato (a 1988 concert recording released in 1991) while no other recordings currently exist of the other two works. Probably for specialists only given the fact that there are 25 minutes of introductory remarks in Russian and an 11-minute rehearsal fragment on a set whose actual music would have fit onto a single CD. 2 CDs.
