Description: This odd release is a coupling of recordings made for an un-named LP in 1977 and 1978 by one of those Russian violinists who were known only to conoisseurs. The repertoire is quite unusual but there are no notes whatsover about the music. You know what to expect from Vitali and the Englishman Gibbs' four-movement sonata is baroque, not early classical while Hummel's three-movement Diologe is not atonal, rather neo-classical in places but does have some fun with organ color especially in the finale. Boris Goldstein (violin), Claus Kühnl (organ).
