Description: This latest volume of the prolific Australian's string quartets brings works from 1936 (12 & 13 - both later turned into symphonies) while no date is given for No. 14 three of whose movements were later orchestrated in 1951 as Hill's "Australia" Symphony. Even though the odd whiff of Impressionism wafts through the 13th's first movement, the prevailing tone of all three is of the central European Romanticism of 75 years before. Dominion String Quartet.
