Description: A member of Bulgaria's second generation of composers, Nenov moved on from their nationalistic style although there are not infrequent infusions of modal material and references to Bulgarian folk music in some of these pieces. Others, like the early (1923-24) five-piece Cinema Suite, are rather close to the Russian avant-garde of the period while the 1932 Theme and Variations is a big-scale, 16-minute exercise of imaginative metamorphoses using a great number of pianistic techniques in a strongly rhapsodic manner.
