DARIUS MILHAUD (1892-1974): Tristesses, Op. 355, Les Soirées de Pétrograde, Op. 55, Catalogue de fleurs, Op. 60.
Catalogue Number: 11P054
Reference: MAG 111.116
Description: The mostly very brief Tristesses of 1956 delicately colored and exquisitely nuanced setttings of texts which contrast the sadness of the poet with the beauty of the countryside in which he finds himself. Les Soirées (1919) are brief character portraits from pre-Revolutionary and Revolutionary Russia, clear and rhythmically accentuated and the Catalogue from the following year is a set of short pastorals in praise of flowers, their music suggested by the colors and scents of their subjects. French texts. Jean-François Gardeil (baritone), Irène Kudela (piano). 2000 release.
