Description: 17 of the 22 pieces here were commissioned for a tribute to Paderewski on the 50th anniversary of his first American concert tour; all the composers thus commissioned were either American, immigrants to America or stuck there at the start of World War II. When Paderewski died unexpectedly, the publication became an homage. The other five pieces were also dedicated to the great pianist, but they come from a longer period covering the first third of the 20th century. Jonathan Plowright (piano).
