Description: The first sonata dates from 1907 and is very Franckian in its harmonic language, cyclic structure and evolving tonality while the second, from 31 years later, comes from Freitas Branco's second creative period - a work of modal, neo-classical clarity which shows the composer as a significant melodist as well.
