Description: This identical program was once recorded by Marco Polo in 1994 (out of print), so if you didn't get it then, here's your chance for one modestly designed, lyrical quartet (1888) with a Russian folk-song theme in its finale, a longer, more "serious" quartet from 1894 with Orthodox chant allusions in its first movement, a long theme-and-variations second movement and another finale based around a familiar Russian theme, and a piano quintet (1900) of lyrical and dramatic sweep, plenty of passion and the expected virtuosic parts for the piano soloist.
