Description: Bassano was among the first writers of purely instrumental music and one of the ways he found to make this the more popular was to use famous vocal works by previous generations of composers and transcribe them for brass ensemble (two cornets, four trombones and continuo). Some of his own sacred concerti are also given the same treatment on this recording (only six of the 21 tracks are vocal) while the Fantasies are instrumental from the start.
