Description: Kopczynski's thoroughly accessible works owe substantial inspiration to Impressionism, with an emphasis on free, rhapsodic expression and beauty of texture, though with a certain austerity in his harmonic language. The sonata is a concise and economical work in one movement divided into contrasting sections, progressing toward a powerful culmination. The songs to religious or poetical texts are straightforwardly tonal and exhibit great melodic charm, while the guitar piece Coloresca is a free, improvisatory work in variation form. In the substantial Tutti e soli the composer explores more sophisticated polyphonic textures than elsewhere here, in a somewhat tragic mood. The piano works that open and close the disc are appealing, with a lively sense of flow and a gentle acknowledgement of the composer's Romantic influences, especially the slightly wistful children's pieces. No texts. Kornelila Wonarowska (soprano), Marek Mozdzierz (baritone), Krzysztof Meisinger (guitar), Marta Osowska, Witold Kawalec, Marcin Kopczynski (piano), Amadeus Chamber Orchestra; Agnieszka Duczmal (Op. 14).
