Description: Most of this selection are late works, when Mayerl was writing music closer to "classical" style than the jazzy/dance-band idiom of his pre-World War II music. Still, it's "light piano music" at its best - a genre Mayerl practically invented. The Forgotten Forest (1945) is an 11-minute tone-poem for piano and orchestra (unfortunately here in its solo piano version). Leslie De'Ath (piano).
