Description: Although he had an organ post in Vilnius at the age of 17 (briefly, before the Soviets closed and trashed the church), Twardowski didn't write for the instrument until 1982 when he produced three pieces; the rest of this disc of his complete organ works dates from 2002 and after. No counterpoint or Bachian influences here; this is tonal music of the 20th century of an individual style. The Easter Triptych (2005), the longest work here at 13 minutes, is a particularly dramatic and impressive work. Miroslaw Pietkiewicz (organ of the Warsaw Academy of Music).
