Description: Where Dvorák was the main influence on Hill's first three quartets, the Fourth of 1916 (three of whose movements were quarried for two symphonies and the last of which exists in a cello/violin and piano form) has some very Elgarian aspects. The Sixth (1927) was written for students and is, by turns, indebted to Haydn and Schubert while the Eighth (1934) was the first of several in an Impressionistic style. Dominion Quartet.
