Label: Hungaroton

Format: CD

Price: $19.98

Description: These quartets are part of a 12-quartet Prussian series, three different ones of which appeared on cpo just five months ago (06J039). First issued in 1787, some editions of these quartets bear a dedication to Frederick the Great, hence their title (the opus number means nothing since different publishers in different countries issued them under different opus numbers, which is why cpo did not use any opus number in its documentation). They are in Pleyel's typical style - three movements (except for No. 2 which has only two), concertante roles for all four players, simple textures and a concentration on long, lyrical lines. Quartetto Luigi Tomasini.
