Description: A large-scale work of over 70 minutes, this highly personal mass was the result of a vow made during a severe illness and was probably finished in early 1739. Its five traditional sections are further broken down into twenty movements and large-scale chorale sections are juxtaposed with solo arias, short dramatic episodes of variegated type and with choral fugues.
