Description: This CD is distinguished by the fact that it was recorded on Scelsi's own Bechstein piano. His Suite No.9 'Ttai' is classic Scelsi proto-minimalism, nine movements in which the music circles around a central pitch in repeating gestures, to meditative effect. Putignano, an admirer of Scelsi, evokes the light-filled saturated colors of the landscape of his native Puglia in three short pieces full of scintillating figuration and brilliant, dazzling chords with shades of Debussy and Messiaen. Anzaghi's Intermezzi operate on similar principles to the Scelsi; elaborate arabesques weave around a constant center. Son'Ora consists of brief piano gestures and percussion sounds - played on instruments from Scelsi's collection - to create a timeless, ritualistic flow of events. Giusy Caruso (Scelsi’s Bechstein piano).
