Description: Here the theme is “The Solo Violin in Eastern Europe” and we get a Serbian work inspired by Bartók and folk music which is also a tribute to Bach (Marić - not a premiere!), a Polish folk-inspired set of caprices by Bacewicz along with a sonata along the lines of Bartók and Stravinsky, Denisov’s 1978 sonata, a highly complex, three-movement work of compact abstraction oriented on Bach and two pieces by Tubin - the dissonant, demanding and freely tonal sonata of 1962 and the simpler folk-derived suite of 1979. Renate Eggebrecht (violin).
