Description: OK, who wants to drop 19 bucks for 5:25 of unrecorded Shostakovich? It is the real thing - no fragment of a 12-year-old or something like that - started in June of 1945 as the composer was about to begin his ninth symphony but its two exposition themes were to be recycled for the Symphony No. 10. Schnittke was offered the opportunity to complete it but, in refusing, opined that it would have required “an enormous development, the scope of which does not correspond to the chamber genre”. Is that why Shostakovich put it aside? Linus Roth (violin), José Gallardo (piano), Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn; Ruben Gazarian.
