Description: Like his symphonies, no Malipiero piano work sounds like any of the others. As his pupil, the composer Gino Gorini, described his style “a continuous discontinuity, an unruly rule, a logical illogicality” or as the pianist here puts it “an extreme formal freedom”. The pieces date from 1908 to 1959, none are atonal but the Hortus gets highly chromatic at times. Sabrina Alberti (piano).
