Description: The fifth volume in this short series of obscure instrumental msuic brings works from consecutive years: 1908’s Swanwhite, to a Strindberg play (29 minutes in Segerstam’s performance) and which often evokes the style of Grieg, is rather better known thant the two-scene, 26-minute The Lizard which inspired Sibelius with its dreamlike atmosphere to be very inventive with just a string orchestra. The short couplings (c. 4 minutes each) are examples of melodrama dating, respectively, from 1948 and 1905. Turku Philharmonic Orchestra; Leif Segerstam.
