Description: Less rare repertoire here than on Vol. 1 of this series (02M004) but it completes Bavouzet’s traversal of Pierné’s piano-and-orchestra works (which, of course, Hyperion and Stephen Coombs did 12 years ago). However, of the two solo pieces, the refined Nocturne is only otherwise available in a live Husum Festival recording and the virtuosic Étude only in a Timpani set of Pierné’s solo piano works. Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (piano), BBC Philharmonic; Juanjo Mena.
