Description: Hosokawa's fluid, gradually evolving sonorous textured music, vividly evoking transformative natural processes, find an ideal medium in the orchestra. Woven Dreams describes the composer's dream of the emerging consciousness of a fetus in the womb, the all-enveloping unity with its surroundings, the enveloping warmth, the climactic trauma of being born. Blossoming II is an expanded version of one of Hosokawa's several works based on the symbolism of the lotus flower, reaching up from primeval formlessness toward the light of enlightenment. The ocean, its infinite cycle and role as the birthplace of life, is the inspiration for a magical tapestry of constantly shifting wave-shapes in sound, surging in volume and wonderfully imaginative transformations of tone color in nine linked sections that express the many moods of infinite and eternal waters. Jun Märkl (conductor).
