Description: An impassioned plea against evironmental destruction, Black Pentecost (1979) used texts by Orkney writer George Mackay Brown in a four-movement vocal symphony of 54 minutes. Stone Litany (1973) may be the only work setting Runic texts in Old English, evoking the haunted atmosphere of a Neolithic burial site. Texts and translations included.
