Description: Penderecki has written most of his chamber music in the late period of his career, neo-romanticism blended with earlier avant-garde elements. This hour-long disc is centered on the 2000 half-hour long sextet, which has quite a few Shostakovichian stylistic episodes, but also extends back to the Stravinskian-Prokofievian Miniatures from 1956 and forward to the extended playing techniques of the horn Capriccio of 2012. Maria Machowska (violin), Artur Rozmyslowicz (viola), Jan Kalinowski (cello), Roman Widaszek (clarinet), Tadeusz Tomaszewski (horn), Marek Szlezer (piano).
