Description: Some of Berlioz' least-known works, two cantatas from various Prix de Rome competitions - the 1828 Herminie, home of the motif later famous as the idée fixe of the Symphonie Fantastique, and the 1829 Cléopâtre, far too personal for the prize judges - and the quite atmospheric seven-minute setting of a Hugo poem dating from 1832 when he was in Italy after finally having won the Prix.
