Description: Franck's 37 posthumous organ pieces were written for the parts of the Catholic liturgy between 1858 and 1863. Mostly light in character, with gracious melodies and clear harmonies, they are not like the mature Franck's organ works, rather showing themselves as the link between Lefébure-Wely and Widor in the French organ tradition. This group is bracketed by two large-scale pièces, one from 1846, Franck's first organ piece and one from 1854 only discovered and edited in 1990 by the organist here. 2 CDs. Joris Verdin (Cavaillé-Coll organ of the Cathedral of Saint-Omer).
