ARNOLD SCHOENBERG (1874-1951): Von Heute auf Morgen, Op. 32.
Catalogue Number: 10N048
Description: This, the first opera to use the 12-tone method, dates from 1930 and is a one-act domestic farce involving marital discord stoked by what Schoenberg saw as the danger to abiding values in art and life posed by fashion which is ephemeral (hence the title "From Today to Tomorrow"). Refined instrumentation and marvellous wit and invention in the orchestral writing serve a work which, nonetheless, was conceived vocally from beginning to end. Georg Nigl (baritone), Brigitte Geller, Sonia Visentin (sopranos), Mathias Schulz (tenor), Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice; Eliahu Inbal. 16:9 widescreen. Dolby Digital 5.1 or Linear PCM 2.0.
