Description: Koechlin's organ pieces come from the period in his life (1924-the late 1930s) when he was occupied with Bach studies and writing his own treatises on counterpoint, harmony and fugue. Except for the lighter Sonatines of 1928-29, which were performed in Paris by Messiaen and Duruflé, these are short, sometimes complex and innovative studies in counterpoint and fugue. Christian Schmitt (Goll organ of Hannover Marktkirche). SACD hybrid
