Description: This unusual instrumentation belongs to only 11 currently known compositions, all from the same late Classical, early Romantic period. They all have Giovanni Punto in common, who wrote the first one and arranged works by Rosetti and the one here by Fiorillo for the same combination. Amon was a student of his and Mettenleiter succeeded Amon as choirmaster and conductor at Wallerstein, making all of these laid-back, attractively serenade-like quintets (in which, like Punto the composers favor the mid-range of the horn), members of the same extended family. Compagnia di Punto, Roberto Fernandez de Larrinoa (double bass).
