Description: These quartets are not explicitly tonal but have constant tonal centers, not so very far from the last chamber works of Shostakovich, on whom Meyer is a noted authority. Emotionally involving and meticulously crafted they fit well into the generally mainstream 20th-century style which should appeal to those who admire the music of Bartók and Shostakovich.
