Description: The major work here is Sowerby's 25-minute suite subtitled Impressions of Lake Superior County ("Forest Voices", "Cascades", "Burnt Rock Pool", "The Lonely Fiddle-Maker" and "The Shining Big Sea-Water"). Written in 1922, the style is very Debussian - try the impressive glittering virtuosity of the second movement in particular. The other unusual repertoire piece of any length is the 11-minute set of self-describin Dance Preludes by La Lontaine from 1964. Steven Graff (piano).
