Description: You'll know the Italian above from the Polish pair of discs we offered back in June of his complete opus 1. Gillier, however, is rather unknown: a student of Michel Lambert, he wrote melodious airs for the voice and for solo instruments (we have four of the former and three of the latter her) notable for the detailed, written-out ornamentation he provides the soloist. Bernier's charming and witty tribute to coffee gives the French view of a beverage which also charmed Bach at the same period. French-English texts. Sara Macliver (soprano), Ensemble Battistin.
