Description: Dating from 1930, this four-act opera was among the first to treat Soviet revolutionary discourse in a serious, modern manner. There are no main characters and lots of crowd scenes: Acts One and Two are set in a marketplace and a metal factory and Act Four is the assault on the naval mutineers in the fortress of Kronstadt, just outside Leningrad. Collectors who know Deshevov for his avant-garde piano piece Rails, will know what to expect as he makes great use of the machine music so popular in "modern" circles at that time. English subtitles. Anna Toneyeva (mezzo), Hiroshi Matsui (bass), Algirdas Drevinskas (tenor), Chorus and Supernumaries of the Saarland State Theatre, Saarland State Orchestra; Will Humburg. 16:9 widescreen. PCM Stereo; Dolby Digital 5.1; DTS 5.1. NTSC. Region 0. 96 min.
