ROBERT FUCHS (1847-1927): Violin Sonatas No. 1 in F Sharp Minor, Op. 20, No. 2 in D, Op. 33 and No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 68.
Catalogue Number: 09W034
Description: Like Raff always able to write beautiful melodies, Fuchs wrote six violin sonatas between 1877 and 1915 which will interest anyone who collects the compositions of the Brahms circle of composers. This is presumably the first of two discs and contains the 1877 First, gently lyrical, calm and unruffled while the 1883 Second has a Schubertian beauty of melody and the Third (1901), dedicated to Joachim, ramps up the technical difficulties a bit but never to the disadvantage of melody. Hyejin Chung (violin), Warren Lee (piano).
