EUGENE ZÁDOR (1894-1977): Biblical Triptych, Rhapsody for Large Orchestra, Fugue Fantasia (all World Premiere Recordings), A Christmas Overture.
Catalogue Number: 09S009
Description: The fourth in this ongoing series brings more vivid music in Technicolor orchestration with the 1943 Biblical Triptych (pictures of Joseph [son of Jacob], David and Paul) giving us the full movie-music experience and reminding us that Zádor did some orchestrating in Hollywood for Rosza. Even the earlier Rhapsody from Zádor’s European period is far more Hollywood than Bartók or Kodály. And the 1958 Fugue Fantasia is striking for how much work it gives low strings and low brass. Much fun to be had. Budapest Symphony Orchestra MÁV; Mariusz Smolij.
