Description: Everyman (1916) never got a suite distilled from it for popular consumption since the music for Hofmannsthal’s version of the medieval morality play was crafted to stick so closely to the play’s action and diction that such excerpting was impossible. Lasting 49 minutes in this performance, the music has two brief sections for voices and chorus but is predominantly orchestral, often brooding, sometimes desolate - something Sibelius was very good at. Turku Philharmonic Orchestra; Leif Segerstam.
