Description: Lieberson's 21-minute six-song cycle of 2009 was a commission to commemorate the centennial of Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple and the composer chose poems dealing with love, impermanence (i.e. of buildings and of life, his recent struggles with the cancer which killed him obviously having their impact also) and home. The music is resolutely conservative and lyrical. Zwilich's quintet (2007) was partially commissioned by the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music and was premiered here in Tucson in 2008 and has her characteristic verve and vivacity with the saxophone treated as a member of the quintet rather than as a "star" soloist.
