Description: The demand for piano duet arrangements of concert music in the mid 19th century was great and Schumann quite often provided his own or directly supervised the work of others he selected. Here, Dresel, who emigrated to the U.S. in 1848 (the year of these arrangements), did all three of the Op. 41 quartets on his own and sent them to Schumann's publisher; Schumann authorized them after making some minor adjustments four years later. There will be five more volumes in this series, conceived by the prizewinning Schumann scholar and researcher Joachim Draheim, which will include all Schumann's orchestral works. Eckerle Piano Duo.
